Chinese New Year with Liberty Living

22 February 2016

It was Chinese New Year on the 8th and the important people at the Liberty Living decided this would be a perfect time to throw a party for their Chinese occupants. So they did. And we went along and brought some nice banners.

Seven Seas Worldwide is fast becoming the first choice for international Chinese students because we’re affordable, efficient and we have a great team operating in China, as well as the UK. Therefore, we thought it would be a good idea to swing by and do a little light promoting. We weren’t trying to shove leaflets in their hands as they were dancing or anything, we just put up a few banners here and there, wore the odd SSW fleece, that kind of thing. And as you can tell from the pictures, the Liberty Living party-goers were very accommodating.

The management at Liberty Living hailed the party as a great success with Seven Seas Worldwide doing their bit to make it a memorable occasion. Let’s hope this is the start of many Seven Seas Worldwide promotional parties to come. We do hope so. We love a party.

Leave a Review - Win a Hamper

06 January 2016

Hamper competition winner

We're delighted to announce the three customers who left reviews for us on Trustpilot have now received their festive hampers via Seven Seas Worldwide.

Cheryl Vacchini pictured above was the lucky recipient of our second prize hamper with the first and third prizes going to Vikki Almond-Plymouth from Devon and Kris Li-Aylestone from Leicestershire respectively.

All our winners had to do was leave an honest review about our services on Trustpilot for their name to be entered into a draw. Seven Seas Worldwide are proud to be associated with Trustpilot who guarantee 100% genuine reviews every time. There's a simple reason for this: They ask for the customer's unique Seven Seas Worldwide reference number. If the customer does not provide this, they cannot leave a review. If only other sites could enforce this simple rule!

Seven Seas Worldwide will continue to run competitions like this throughout 2016 on Twitter, Facebook and other social media, so listen out for when our next consignment of goodies drops!

Leave a Review - Win an iPad

iPad competition

Yep. That's all Amy had to do to get her hands on the latest iPad. Oh and she had to take a picture of herself in the mirror but that's it. Seven Seas Worldwide are proud to be associated with the only reliable company review site around - Trustpilot. Only customers with genuine job reference numbers can leave a review on Trustpilot's site which means you can be 100% sure you're reading the words of a genuine customer.

And so upon receiving her goods, Amy sat down and wrote a lovely review of her experience with us on Trustpilot. Her name was then retrieved from a hat with dozens of other reviewers and the iPad was whisked away to her new address in no time.

Seven Seas Worldwide run competitions such as this all the time so follow us on Twitter or Facebook or Google+ and make sure you don't miss out on the next batch of goodies!

Sending Milk Powder to China - The Do's and Don't's

27 November 2015

china milk powder

Due to the widely-reported Chinese milk powder scandal of 2008, public trust in milk powder products out of China remains significantly low. For this reason, families across China are importing milk powder from overseas. The Chinese government has been closely following this trend and implementing laws and rules to maintain control of this influx of foreign milk powder.

If you're arranging a milk powder consignment to be sent to China from overseas, remember these important points:

  • You must classify your shipment as 'personal effects'
  • The quantity of milk powder must not exceed 6kg per parcel
  • If your shipment exceeds this weight, it is automatically classed as 'cargo' and tax will need to be paid on it
  • The tax rate is 10%
  • If the total value of items sent exceeds 2000 RMB, these will be taxed too

With these measures in place, Seven Seas Worldwide has set up MilkMail, a service designed for the sole task of delivering milk powder to China as efficiently and safely as possible. We provide what we call a 'Mail Box' which has been created to hold the permitted number of milk powder cans for each journey at an affordable rate.

In addition to MilkMail, we've also rolled out MilkMail Plus, a service where we buy the milk powder on your behalf before sending it direct to China by air. All you have to do is make the order. Get a Degree for Free

26 November 2015

studying in germany

In the US, students can expect to pay around $10,000 a year in fees, healthcare, insurance and rent. This is why young Americans are seeking to obtain a degree abroad, particularly in Germany.

In a recent BBC Magazine report, Franz Strasser visited Germany to speak to a number of US citizens who chose Germany as their place of study for the next few years, including Katherine Burlingame who is getting her Master's degree in Cottbus, East Germany.

'A graduate of Pennsylvania State University, Katherine spent less than €500 ($570) a month in Cottbus, which included housing, transportation and healthcare. On top of that she received a monthly scholarship by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Council) of €750 ($815) which more than covered her costs. "When I found out that just like Germans I'm studying for free, it was sort of mind blowing," Katherine says. "I realised how easy the admission process was and how there was no tuition fee. This was a wow moment for me."

She added 'I can't imagine ever thinking that my children one day are going to end up in thousands and thousands of dollars in debt when they can come to Germany and have no debt and you can live so cheaply as a student.'

Strasser also visited a student studying at the Technical University of Munich and discovered that had the student stayed and studied in his hometown of South Carolina, he would have paid roughly $9,500 more than he does in Germany.

So with the number of US students migrating to Germany for their studies, who can they turn to for a smooth, effective and affordable transition? Well, the website you're currently visiting will give you a clue.

Seven Seas Worldwide has long been the first choice for many students because we've been in the moving business for two decades and know all about the emotional upheaval of an important move at such a young age. This will probably be their first time, breaking away from home, away from the family dynamic and facing up to independence and adulthood. And if they choose to do that abroad, expect the emotional levels to be cranked up a little more.

With Seven Seas Worldwide, you can expect a range of services designed to meet the needs of students in the US. We have new and revolutionary methods to help move personal belongings and household goods from A to B. If you're a student in the US, weighing up the options of a move abroad, check out the Students section of the website and see how we can help you today.
