Compare MoveCube® sizes for your Brisbane removal

The International MoveCube® is a secure, sole-use shipping container for furniture, boxes and household belongings. Available in Small, Medium and Large sizes, it’s a self-pack service, meaning you load and unload your belongings yourself.

Your complimentary Starter Pack includes colour-coded floor sheets (red for Small, white for Medium and blue for Large) and a measuring tape. Lay the relevant sheet in a clear corner of a room and mark the container’s 187 cm / 73 in height on the wall to visualise how the items will fit.

Measure bulky furniture before choosing your preferred MoveCube® size and consider dismantling suitable items to maximise space. Change the container size or book multiple MoveCubes® by contacting our team.

How we ship the MoveCube® from the UK to Brisbane

The MoveCube® travels by sea from the UK to the Port of Melbourne, Australia, before being transported onward to Brisbane. Depending on the shipping schedule, your shipment may undergo transhipment, in which the container is transferred between vessels.

You can track your shipment's progress using our online tracking tool.

What happens on your shipment’s journey to Brisbane?

Step 1

UK collection and departure

We collect the loaded MoveCube® and transport it through our UK shipping network for export.

Step 2

Sea shipping

The MoveCube® travels to Australia aboard a container ship.

Step 3

Possible transhipment

Some journeys involve transferring the MoveCube® between vessels at Port Louis (Mauritius) or Singapore, without unpacking your belongings.

Step 4

Arrival in Melbourne

Your shipment arrives at the Port of Melbourne, its Australian entry point.

Step 5

Customs and biosecurity

Your belongings must clear Australian customs and biosecurity before onward transport to Brisbane. Inspections or treatment may be required.

Step 6

Onward transport and Brisbane delivery

Once cleared, coordinate a suitable delivery date with our team and unload the MoveCube® upon its arrival at your Brisbane address.

Build flexibility into your moving schedule to allow for potential shipping delays, customs inspections or unexpected changes to your plans.

How long do removals from the UK to Brisbane take?

Shipping times to Brisbane vary depending on your UK collection location.

Transit time begins once you've completed your online documentation and paid the Shipping and Transportation charge. It ends when your shipment reaches the destination depot, not your Brisbane address.

The table below shows estimated transit times for one Small MoveCube® from four UK cities:

UK collection city
Est. transit time
London
100–122 days
Cardiff
103–125 days
Edinburgh
118–144 days
Belfast
118–144 days

These estimates are not guaranteed delivery dates. Australian customs and biosecurity clearance, destination handling and final delivery arrangements may extend the overall timescale.

For a personalised transit estimate, enter your details into our online quote tool.

Planning tip: keep essentials such as medication, important documents, and enough clothing with you for your first few weeks, rather than packing them in the MoveCube®.

Australian customs and biosecurity: preparing your belongings

Australian customs and biosecurity requirements apply nationwide, so moving to Brisbane doesn’t involve a separate Queensland customs process. Seven Seas Worldwide provides documentation guidance and coordinates clearance, but you’re responsible for accurately declaring and preparing your belongings.

Before your belongings leave the UK:

  • Complete your shipping documents accurately. Prepare a detailed Inventory Packing List, number your boxes and complete the B534 Unaccompanied Personal Effects Statement. You may also need a passport, visa or other supporting documents.
  • Clean and dry outdoor belongings. Remove soil, insects and plant material from footwear, bicycles, gardening tools, camping equipment and other items used outdoors. Pack shoes and boots in the designated Shoe & Boot Box near the MoveCube® entrance for inspection.
  • Check restricted and prohibited goods. Items containing wood, plant or animal materials may be subject to additional import conditions. Review Australian import restrictions and our list of prohibited goods before packing.

Australian authorities may inspect your belongings or require them to be cleaned or treated, which may cause delays and additional charges.

For detailed requirements, see our Australian customs advice and the Australian Government’s personal effects biosecurity guidance.

How does your Brisbane address affect MoveCube® delivery?

Delivery arrangements depend on your property and vehicle access. You’ll need to unload your MoveCube® within the allocated time slot: 30 minutes for a Small, 45 minutes for a Medium, and 60 minutes for a Large. Allowances increase for multiple MoveCubes®, but additional charges may apply if you exceed your allocated time.

Arrange enough help to unload your belongings within the allocated timeslot. The access arrangements you'll need to check depend on the type of Brisbane property you're moving into:

High-rise apartments icon

CBD and inner-city apartments

For apartments in Brisbane's CBD and inner-city areas such as South Brisbane, Fortitude Valley and Newstead, check:

  • Permitted moving days and times;
  • Loading-bay access and vehicle-height restrictions;
  • Service-lift bookings, dimensions and weight limits;
  • Requirements for protecting lifts/elevators and communal areas.

Queenslander-style and raised houses

Queenslander-style and raised houses

For traditional Queenslander-style homes, often raised above ground level, in suburbs such as Paddington, Red Hill and Highgate Hill, check:

  • Elevated entrances, external stairs and verandahs;
  • Narrow doorways, hallways and access routes;
  • The distance belongings must be carried from the vehicle;
  • Whether large furniture can be moved safely into the property.

Detached house with a driveway icon

Townhouses and suburban houses

For townhouses and suburban homes in Brisbane areas such as Carindale, Chermside and Mount Gravatt, check:

  • Driveway width, gates and vehicle access;
  • Slopes, steps and overhanging obstacles;
  • Narrow streets or shared driveways;
  • Safe space for parking and unloading.

Suitable parking must be available within 20 metres of the building entrance for door-to-door MoveCube® delivery. If access or parking could be restricted, contact our team before arranging delivery.

Building approval doesn't guarantee legal street parking. Check both arrangements before your Brisbane delivery.

Moving into a Brisbane apartment? Check body corporate rules

Many Brisbane apartments and community-title properties are governed by a body corporate, with by-laws that may regulate the use of shared spaces such as lifts, foyers and communal parking.

Before delivery, ask your landlord, building manager or body corporate contact:

  • Do I need to book a move-in time or give advance notice?
  • Are moves restricted to certain days or hours?
  • Do I need permission to use a loading bay or service lift?
  • Are protective coverings required for lifts/elevators, floors or walls?
  • Are there restrictions on moving large furniture through shared areas?

Request your building’s move-in procedures early and share any relevant restrictions with Seven Seas Worldwide before arranging delivery.

Check parking rules for your Brisbane address

Brisbane City Council regulates loading zones, clearways, no-stopping areas and parking time limits. These restrictions vary by location and can affect where and how long a MoveCube® delivery vehicle can stop.

Before delivery:

  • Check the parking restrictions and loading-zone conditions near your address.
  • Confirm whether the vehicle can legally stop for the full unloading timeslot.
  • Find out whether any parking permit or approval is needed, and arrange it in advance where applicable.
  • Contact our team if parking restrictions could affect delivery.

A parking permit doesn’t automatically override clearway or no-stopping restrictions. Confirm any permitted arrangements with the council before the MoveCube® arrives.

Best removal service to Brisbane

"We couldn’t be happier with the service from start to finish. Always kept up to date every step of the trip, and having access to see where the actual vessel was in the world was also great. It was also useful to be able to call the customer service line at any time of day and ALWAYS get someone who was very knowledgeable and could help straight away.

We have just about unpacked everything, and all is intact and undamaged, which is great and shows the care you take of the container en route.

Frequently asked questions about removals to Brisbane

Yes, provided there’s suitable vehicle and building access. For apartments, the MoveCube® is positioned outside the building entrance and is not delivered to your individual apartment door.

You’re responsible for unloading and taking your belongings inside within the allocated timeslot. Arrange enough help and check any body corporate rules, loading-bay restrictions or service-lift bookings in advance.

A destination address is needed to calculate an accurate shipping quote and arrange delivery. If you haven’t secured a property, you can initially provide a friend or family member’s address near where you expect to live.

Contact our team as soon as your address changes, particularly if you’re moving to a different suburb or service area. Changes made after your shipment reaches Australia may affect delivery arrangements and incur additional charges.

Yes. You can ship beds, sofas, tables, chairs and other household furniture, provided everything fits through the MoveCube®'s loading opening and complies with Australian import requirements.

Measure bulky items before booking, and dismantle and protect furniture where practical. For preparation advice, see our furniture shipping guide.

Some items are prohibited from international shipping or entry into Australia, while others are restricted and may require additional documentation or approval. Before packing, check Seven Seas Worldwide’s prohibited goods list and our Australian customs guidance to find out what you can and can’t send.

MoveCube® shipments include two weeks’ free storage in Australia after customs and biosecurity clearance, giving you flexibility if your belongings arrive before your property is ready.

Longer storage is available for an additional fee, but it must be arranged before your shipment is scheduled for loading. Contact our team early if you anticipate a delay.
