The International MoveCube® comes in Small, Medium and Large sizes, and you pack, load and unload the container yourself.

Your free Starter Pack includes colour-coded floor sheets® (red for Small, white for Medium and blue for Large). Lay the relevant sheet on the floor and use the measuring tape to mark the container's 187 cm height on a wall, helping you visualise how your belongings will fit.

How we ship the MoveCube® from the UK to Sydney

The MoveCube® travels by sea to Australia, typically arriving in Melbourne before onward transport to Sydney. Depending on the shipping schedule, your shipment may also undergo transhipment, where the container is transferred between vessels.

You can track your belongings online throughout their journey.

What happens on your shipment’s journey to Sydney?

Step 1

UK departure

The MoveCube® travels through the ports of London Gateway, Felixstowe or Southampton before beginning its journey to Australia.

Step 2

Sea shipping

The MoveCube® travels overseas aboard a container ship.

Step 3

Possible transhipment

Some journeys include a stop at Port Louis (Mauritius) or Singapore, where your MoveCube® is transferred between vessels.

Step 4

Arrival in Australia

Your shipment typically arrives in Melbourne, the usual Australian entry point for Sydney-bound MoveCubes®.

Step 5

Customs and biosecurity

Your belongings must complete Australian customs and biosecurity clearance before onward transport. Inspections or treatment may be required.

Step 6

Onward transport and Sydney delivery

Once cleared, we transport your shipment to Sydney and deliver it to your address, where you’ll unload the MoveCube®.

When planning your move to Sydney, allow time for more than the sea journey. Your belongings will also need to be processed and released in Australia before final delivery can be arranged.

How long do removals from the UK to Sydney take?

Shipping times to Sydney vary depending on your UK collection location.

Transit time begins once you’ve completed your online documentation and paid the Shipping and Transportation charge. It ends when your shipment reaches the destination depot, not your Sydney address.

The table below shows estimated transit times for one Small MoveCube® from four UK cities:

UK collection city
Est. transit time
London
97–119 days
Cardiff
100–122 days
Edinburgh
115–141 days
Belfast
115–141 days

These are estimates, not guaranteed delivery dates. Australian customs and biosecurity clearance, destination handling and final delivery arrangements can extend the overall timescale.

For a move-specific estimate, get a free, no-obligation quote.

Planning tip: allow some flexibility between your arrival in Sydney and when you'll need your belongings. Keep essentials with you, such as medication, important documents, and enough clothing for your first few weeks, rather than packing them in the MoveCube®.

What happens when your belongings reach Australia?

Australian customs and biosecurity requirements apply nationwide, so moving to Sydney doesn’t involve a separate NSW customs process. Your belongings must be cleared before onward delivery can be arranged.

You’ll need accurate shipping documentation, including an Inventory Packing List and a B534 Unaccompanied Personal Effects Statement where applicable.

Before loading the MoveCube®:

Australian authorities may inspect your belongings or require treatment, which may extend clearance times and incur additional charges.

For full requirements, see our Australian customs advice.

How does your Sydney address affect delivery?

Delivery arrangements depend on your property and vehicle access. You’ll need to unload the MoveCube® within the allocated time slot: 30 minutes for a Small, 45 minutes for a Medium, and 60 minutes for a Large. Allowances increase for multiple MoveCubes®, but additional charges may apply if you exceed your allocated time.

Arrange enough help to unload the MoveCube® and, before packing in the UK, check that your furniture will fit through the doorways, lifts and stairways at your Sydney property.

The access arrangements you'll need to check depend on the type of property you're moving into:

High-rise apartments icon

City-centre apartments

For apartments in Sydney’s CBD and inner-city areas such as Pyrmont, Haymarket and Surry Hills, check:

  • Permitted moving days and times;
  • Loading-bay access and vehicle-height restrictions;
  • Service-lift bookings, dimensions and weight limits;
  • Requirements for protecting communal areas.

Row of townhouses icon

Inner-city terraces and townhouses

For properties with restricted street access, check:

  • Clearways, loading zones and parking restrictions;
  • Narrow streets and vehicle access;
  • The distance belongings must be carried;
  • Doorway, hallway and stair widths.

Detached house with a driveway icon

Detached houses and suburban properties

For houses with private access, check:

  • Driveway width and vehicle suitability;
  • Gates, overhanging obstacles and other restrictions;
  • Steps or slopes leading to the entrance;
  • Safe space for unloading.

Suitable parking must be available within 20 metres of the building entrance for door-to-door MoveCube® delivery. If access or parking could be restricted, contact Seven Seas Worldwide in advance.

Check your building’s move-in rules before booking delivery to ensure everything is ready when your MoveCube® arrives.

Moving into a Sydney apartment? Check NSW strata rules

Many Sydney apartments are part of strata schemes, where by-laws govern the use of shared spaces such as lifts, foyers and communal parking. These rules vary between buildings and may affect your move-in arrangements.

Before delivery, ask your landlord, building manager or strata manager:

  • Do I need to book a move-in time or give advance notice?
  • Are moves restricted to certain days or hours?
  • Do I need permission to use a loading bay or service lift?
  • Are protective coverings required for lifts, floors or walls?
  • Are there rules for moving large furniture through shared areas?

Request your building’s move-in procedures early and share any relevant restrictions with Seven Seas Worldwide before arranging delivery.

Check parking rules for your Sydney address

Parking restrictions vary across Sydney’s local councils, so check the requirements for your specific delivery location.

Before your MoveCube® arrives:

  • Identify your local council.
  • Check nearby clearways, loading zones, no-stopping restrictions and parking time limits.
  • Find out whether a temporary parking permit or other approval is required.
  • Apply early if permission is needed.
  • Contact Seven Seas Worldwide if restrictions could affect delivery.

A parking permit doesn’t automatically override clearway or no-stopping restrictions. Confirm the permitted arrangements with your local council before delivery.

First-class customer service

"From the first phone call, I was very impressed with Seven Seas Worldwide's customer service. My packing boxes were dropped off with the Starter Pack, which gave me ample time to pack up my belongings.

The day I loaded the Small MoveCube®, it went so smoothly. I was kept updated on the ship's progress at all times.

My MoveCube® was delivered yesterday in Sydney. Curtis, the driver, was very friendly and helpful. I will always recommend Seven Seas Worldwide to anyone who is moving abroad."

— Sharon

Great service, would recommend

"Easy to use, and our stuff arrived from the UK to Sydney right on schedule. Everything was in good condition, and they were easy to deal with (we rang and changed our destination address free of charge). I enjoyed being able to see/track where our stuff was while being shipped."

— Dan

Excellent service.

"I don't usually leave reviews, but dealing with Seven Seas Worldwide has been so smooth and painless that it feels important to share. It's a big deal - trusting a company with your belongings, but I felt supported and guided through every step of the process, from customer service to delivery driver (both in the UK and Australia).

Many other companies advertised much lower costs but concealed additional costs that would be applied at the other end. Seven Seas Worldwide were upfront about all costs, and there were no surprises."

UK-to-Sydney removals FAQs

Yes, provided there’s suitable vehicle and building access. For apartments, the MoveCube® is positioned outside the building entrance and is not delivered to your individual apartment door.

You’re responsible for unloading it and carrying your belongings into your apartment within the allocated time, so make sure you have enough help.

A destination address is needed for customs and an accurate shipping quote. If you haven’t secured a Sydney property, you can initially provide the address of a friend or family member near where you expect to live.

Contact Seven Seas Worldwide as soon as your plans change. Updating your address after your shipment reaches Australia, particularly to a different city or service area, may incur additional charges.

Yes. You can ship beds, sofas, tables, chairs and other permitted household furniture in a MoveCube®, provided they fit inside the container and through its loading opening.

Measure bulky items before booking, and dismantle and protect furniture where possible. Check that your largest pieces will also fit through the entrances, stairs or lifts at your Sydney property.

For more advice, see our furniture packing guide.

You must follow both Seven Seas Worldwide’s prohibited goods rules and Australian customs and biosecurity requirements.

Pay particular attention to food, plant and animal products, untreated wood and outdoor equipment that may carry soil or other contaminants. Some items may require declaration, inspection or treatment, while others cannot be shipped.

MoveCube® shipments include two weeks’ free storage in Australia after customs and biosecurity clearance, giving you flexibility if your belongings arrive before your new home is ready.

You can arrange longer storage for an additional fee, but this must be organised before your shipment is scheduled for loading. Contact Seven Seas Worldwide early if you expect a delay.
