What happens when your belongings reach Australia?
Australian customs and biosecurity requirements are federal, so they do not change because Melbourne is your final destination.
For unaccompanied personal effects, you may need to complete a B534 Unaccompanied Personal Effects Statement, while biosecurity authorities may inspect goods that could carry soil, pests or other biosecurity risks.

- Lift/elevator dimensions and weight limits;
- Any requirements for protecting lifts/elevators, floors or communal areas.
Inner-city terrace with limited access
Check:
- Whether the delivery vehicle can stop close to the property;
- Clearways and loading restrictions;
- Narrow-street access;
- How far will belongings need to be carried;
- Doorway, hallway and stair widths.
Detached or suburban home
Check:
- Driveway width;
- Gates and overhanging obstacles;
- Vehicle access;
- Steps or slopes between the unloading point and the entrance;
- Whether there is enough safe space for unloading.
