  • MoveCube® sea transit takes approximately 119 days, though transit times can vary and don't include customs, biosecurity clearance or final delivery.

  • Complete your Inventory Packing List and shipping documents accurately so we can coordinate customs clearance in Australia.
  • Check prohibited, restricted and biosecurity-controlled goods before packing, as some belongings may require inspection, treatment or other import conditions.

UK to Australia removals at a glance

Our infographic gives you a quick overview of the key things to know when shipping your belongings from the UK to Australia.

Top tip: clean and dry belongings that could pose a biosecurity risk, making them easy to identify and access. Complete your Inventory Packing List as you pack so you know exactly what's in each box.

How removals from the UK to Australia work

Every move from the UK to Australia follows the same five stages, from getting a quote to completing customs clearance and arranging final delivery.

Here's what to expect at each step.

01

Get your quote

Get a free, no-obligation quote by telling us what you want to ship, where you’re moving from in the UK and your destination in Australia. We’ll show you the available shipping options so you can choose the one that suits your move.

02

Pack your shipment

Before packing, check that your belongings are permitted for entry into Australia. Clean and dry footwear, bikes, camping gear, sports equipment and other items that may present a biosecurity risk.

Pack your belongings securely and complete your Inventory Packing List as you go, clearly recording what’s inside each box. You’ll also need to complete the required shipping and customs documentation.

If you’re using Boxes & Bags Shipping, we’ll collect your packed shipment from your UK address. For MoveCube® customers, we’ll bring your container to you to load, then collect it for shipping.

03

We ship to Australia

We’ll arrange the international shipping of your belongings to Australia. MoveCube® shipments travel by sea, while sea and air options are available for eligible smaller shipments.

You can track your shipment online while it’s on its way.

From collection in the UK to customs clearance and delivery in Australia, we’ll coordinate your belongings every step of the way.

Clear Australian customs and biosecurity

When your shipment arrives in Australia, it must complete customs clearance and biosecurity checks before we can arrange onward delivery to your destination. We’ll guide you through the required documentation and coordinate the clearance process.

Australian authorities may inspect your shipment. If biosecurity concerns are identified, treatment or other action may be required, and additional charges may apply before your belongings can be released.

05

Receive your belongings

Once clearance is complete and any outstanding destination requirements have been met, we’ll arrange delivery in Australia.

If you’re using a MoveCube®, we’ll deliver it for you to unload during your allocated timeslot. Smaller shipments are delivered according to the service you’ve selected.

Do you offer storage?

Yes. MoveCube® and Boxes & Bags Shipping include two weeks’ free storage in the UK and two weeks’ free storage in Australia after customs and biosecurity clearance.

If you need more time, you can extend your storage for an additional fee. Additional storage must be arranged before your shipment is scheduled for loading.

Which removal service is right for your move to Australia?

For most household moves to Australia, the MoveCube® is our main international removals service. Choose from three sizes, or book multiple MoveCubes® for a larger home. Moving less? Boxes & Bags Shipping is designed for smaller shipments, while SeaPost is available for qualifying shipments of up to four Standard boxes or two medium suitcases.

Move your furniture and household items with a MoveCube®

The MoveCube® is a secure, wooden moving container designed for international shipping, giving you dedicated space for furniture, boxes and other household belongings. Unlike shared container shipping, your MoveCube® is reserved for your belongings, so your items aren't packed inside it alongside another customer's goods. Large enough to step inside, it gives you room to load and organise everything before it's secured for transport.

Available in Small, Medium and Large sizes, it can be positioned outside your property for you to load on collection day. For larger household moves, you can book multiple MoveCubes® to get the space you need.

Once loaded, we'll collect your MoveCube®, transport it to one of our UK depots, and ship it by sea to Australia as part of our door-to-door removals service.

Moving less? Send boxes, baggage or suitcases

Boxes & Bags Shipping is designed for smaller moves when you don't need a MoveCube®, and offers sea and air options for eligible shipments. It's ideal for sending boxes, baggage, suitcases and smaller quantities of personal effects to Australia.

For qualifying shipments of up to four Standard boxes or two medium suitcases, SeaPost offers a simpler option that lets you ship tax-free from the UK to Australia without needing to be there when your belongings arrive.

Prepare for collection with your free MoveCube® Starter Pack

Before collection, we'll carry out a site inspection, either in person or online, to help prepare for your MoveCube® collection.

Where applicable, we'll check road access and the safest position for our vehicle to be positioned for loading, helping identify any potential issues before collection day.

We'll also provide your free Starter Pack, which includes:

  • Essential packing tools, including parcel tape, a tape gun, a box cutter, a marker pen and measuring tape.
  • Three MoveCube® floor sheets, one for each size, to help you plan how your belongings will fit before collection.
  • Numbered labels for customers using multiple MoveCubes®, helping identify what's packed in each unit if Australian customs or biosecurity officers need to inspect your shipment.

How Angus used his Starter Pack to choose the right MoveCube®

When Angus moved his family's belongings from the UK to Melbourne, he initially booked a Small MoveCube®. After using the floor sheets in his free Starter Pack to test how everything would fit, he decided to upgrade to a Medium MoveCube®.

“Upon receiving the Starter Pack and test packing, we decided to upgrade to a Medium MoveCube® for a little extra breathing room.”

Angus recommends practising your load before collection day by marking out the space, arranging your belongings on the floor sheets and taking photos so you can recreate the layout when your MoveCube® arrives.

Top tip

Don't choose your MoveCube® based on weight alone — volume matters too. Bulky items such as sofas, mattresses, dining chairs, bikes and children's equipment can take up more space than you expect.

Declutter first, then estimate what you're taking. If you're unsure which size you need, our itemised quote tool will recommend a suitable option based on the belongings you're shipping.

How much do removals from the UK to Australia cost in 2026?

Removals from the UK to Australia start at approximately £183 for two Standard shipping boxes or £972 for a Small MoveCube®.

These are indicative starting prices, not fixed rates. Your final removals quote depends on how much you're shipping, your UK collection address, your destination in Australia, the shipping method and any optional extras, such as insurance and additional packing materials.

What affects the cost of moving to Australia?

The cost of moving from the UK to Australia depends on how much you're shipping, your UK collection and Australian delivery locations, your chosen shipping service and any additional services or extras you select.

Question mark icon pin

Why do prices vary between Australian destinations?

Australia is a vast country, so the cost of international removals can vary depending on where your belongings are being delivered.

Factors such as the distance from our Australian depots, onward transport requirements and the size of your shipment can all influence the final price.

We provide removals from the UK to every Australian state and territory:

New South Wales Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong and regional NSW
Victoria
Melbourne, Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo and regional Victoria
Queensland
Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Cairns, Townsville and regional Queensland
Western Australia
Perth, Bunbury, Geraldton, Albany and regional Western Australia
South Australia
Adelaide and regional South Australia
Tasmania
Hobart, Launceston and regional Tasmania
Australian Capital Territory
Canberra and destinations across the ACT
Northern Territory
Darwin, Alice Springs and regional Northern Territory

These are just some of the destinations we serve. Enter your delivery address into our online quote tool to check availability and get a personalised price.

The most accurate moving price comes from quoting what you’re taking and exactly where in Australia it needs to go.

Your shipment and destination

How much you're moving: the more belongings you take, the more shipping space you'll need. Decluttering can reduce the size or number of MoveCubes® required.

Shipping service: the cost will depend on whether you're sending a smaller shipment with SeaPost or Boxes & Bags Shipping, or using one or more MoveCubes® for a household move.

Sea or air shipping: MoveCube® shipments travel by sea. Eligible Boxes & Bags shipments can travel by sea or air, with sea generally costing less and air offering a faster service.

UK collection address: your location affects the road transport required to collect your belongings before international shipping.

Australian delivery address: Australia is vast, so onward transport requirements vary by destination. Enter your exact delivery address into our quote tool to check availability and get a personalised price.

Additional costs to consider

Check what's included in your quote and whether any additional costs could apply to your move.

Destination charges: additional charges may apply in Australia and aren't included in the example prices above. Your personalised quote will show the applicable destination charges for your shipment.

Biosecurity inspections and treatment: Australian authorities may inspect personal effects for biosecurity risks. If cleaning, treatment or other action is required before release, additional charges may apply.

Insurance and packing materials: optional cover and any additional boxes, bubble wrap, tape, or other packing materials you purchase will increase your overall cost.

Parking and access: permits or other site-specific arrangements required for MoveCube® collection or delivery may add to your moving costs.

Additional storage: MoveCube® and Boxes & Bags Shipping include two weeks' free storage in the UK and two weeks' free storage in Australia after customs and biosecurity clearance. If you need longer, additional storage is available for a fee.

Don’t have an Australian address yet?

You don’t need a permanent Australian address to start planning your move. For an accurate quote, you’ll need to provide a delivery address — this could be your expected address, temporary accommodation or, where appropriate, a friend or family member’s address near where you plan to live.

If your delivery address changes, your cost or service availability may change too, particularly if you’re moving to a different area.

Still deciding where to live? Get quotes for your likely destinations before booking to compare costs and check which services are available.

For a price based on what you're actually moving, use our free online quote tool. Enter your UK collection and Australian delivery details and tell us what you're taking to see the available shipping options.

As you build your quote, you can:

  • Choose your MoveCube® size or shipping option;
  • Compare sea and air shipping where available;
  • Add packing materials and optional insurance;
  • Check any applicable destination charges; and
  • Receive an itemised estimate before you book.

Price freeze guarantee

Place your order within 7 days of receiving your quote, and once your deposit has been paid, we'll freeze your transportation and shipping rates for 60 days or until your shipment is collected and invoiced — whichever comes first.

Spread the cost of your move

You don't need to pay the full cost of your international move upfront. Your removal costs are paid in stages across your shipment's Australian relocation.

Here's how it works:

  • When you book – pay a security deposit. This isn't an additional fee; it's deducted from your shipping and transportation costs.
  • After collection – once we've collected your shipment and you've completed your online documentation, pay the remaining shipping and transportation balance.
  • Before final delivery – pay any applicable destination charges before your belongings are delivered in Australia.

How long do removals from the UK to Australia take?

MoveCube® removals from the UK to Australia take approximately 119 days by sea. Your quote will include the latest estimated transit time based on your collection and delivery locations.

Transit time isn't the same as your final delivery time. It doesn't usually include processing before departure, destination handling, Australian customs and biosecurity clearance or arranging delivery to your new home.

Transit times are estimates, not guarantees, and can be affected by shipping schedules, port operations, weather and customs or biosecurity processing. We'll arrange delivery once the required clearance and destination processes are complete.

What route do shipments take from the UK to Australia?

Our UK-to-Australia MoveCube® shipments typically depart from London Gateway, Felixstowe or Southampton and travel by sea to Melbourne. Depending on the shipping schedule, your container may make a transhipment stop at Port Louis or Singapore, where it's transferred from one vessel to another for the onward journey to Australia.

Your MoveCube® remains intact during transhipment and isn't unloaded at these stops. After arriving in Australia, it may be opened by Australian customs or biosecurity authorities for inspection, which is why completing an accurate Inventory Packing List is important.

Once the required clearance processes are complete, we'll arrange the onward journey to your destination, where you'll unload your MoveCube®.

Australian customs clearance and biosecurity explained

Your household goods and personal effects must clear Australian customs and biosecurity checks before they can be released for delivery.

We'll coordinate customs clearance using the documentation you provide, while Australian biosecurity authorities may inspect your shipment for potential risks.

What happens when your shipment reaches Australian customs?

Information icon

Customs and biosecurity aren't the same thing

Although they both form part of the arrival process, they have different purposes.

Customs deals with the importation and declaration of your belongings, including whether duties, GST or other import requirements apply.

Biosecurity protects Australia from pests and diseases that could enter on belongings such as footwear, outdoor equipment and goods containing plant or animal material.

Question mark icon pin

Why should you pay special attention to footwear?

Shoes and boots can trap soil, seeds and other organic matter in their soles and treads, making them particularly relevant to Australian biosecurity checks.

The steps below show how to prepare your footwear before packing.

How To Clean Shoes Graphic

Preparing your belongings for Australian biosecurity

Australian biosecurity authorities may pay particular attention to belongings that contain plant or animal material or have been in contact with soil, plants, animals, food or water.

The condition of these belongings matters, so preparation before you pack can help reduce avoidable problems when your shipment reaches Australia.

Which belongings need particular attention?

Thoroughly clean and dry items such as:

  • Shoes, boots and other footwear;
  • Bicycles, scooters and other sporting equipment;
  • Tents, backpacks and camping or hiking equipment;
  • Garden tools, plant pots, barbecues and outdoor furniture;
  • Pet bedding, cages and other animal equipment;
  • Vacuum cleaners, brooms and waste bins;
  • Carpets, rugs and mats; and
  • Wetsuits, fishing equipment and other belongings that have been in contact with freshwater environments.

Drain anything that can hold water and make sure it's completely dry before packing. Vacuum carpets, rugs and mats, and check soles, tyres, wheels, crevices and other hard-to-see areas for soil or debris.

Wooden furniture and other timber belongings also need attention. Check for signs of insect activity, such as small holes or sawdust-like material, and verify import requirements for goods containing untreated wood, plant or animal material before shipping.

Not sure about an item? Check Australia's Biosecurity Import Conditions (BICON) system before packing to find out whether import conditions, permits, or treatment requirements apply.

Angus's experience shipping bicycles to Australia

When Angus moved his family from the UK to Melbourne, he shipped four bicycles in his MoveCube®. Despite stripping and thoroughly cleaning each bike before packing it into a bike box, Australian biosecurity still inspected them on arrival.

His advice for anyone shipping bikes or other biosecurity-sensitive items is simple:

“Make sure your bike boxes are easily accessible for inspection.”

Angus also packed his cleaned footwear together near the MoveCube® entrance, making potentially inspectable items easier for officials to reach.

Pack potentially inspectable belongings so they can be found

If Australian biosecurity authorities need to inspect your shipment, clear packing and labelling can help them identify relevant belongings.

For MoveCube® shipments, pack all shoes and boots in the provided Shoe & Boot Box and position it near the front of the MoveCube® for quick inspection.

You should also:

  • Number every box and make sure the numbers match your Inventory Packing List;
  • Record which box numbers contain declared biosecurity-risk items;
  • Describe belongings clearly and, where relevant, state what they're made from — for example, “wooden chair”, “metal bed frame” or “cane basket”;
  • Avoid second-hand boxes or bags previously used for fruit, vegetables, meat, eggs, fertiliser or other animal or plant products; and
  • Don't use straw, sawdust, wood shavings or other plant material as packing or filler.

Top tip: clean, identify, and record any belongings that pose a biosecurity risk as you pack, so they can be located more easily if your shipment is inspected.

What happens if Australian biosecurity inspects your belongings?

Australian biosecurity authorities decide whether an inspection is required. If your shipment is selected, officers may examine relevant belongings for soil, plant material, insects or other biosecurity risks.

An inspection doesn't necessarily mean there's a problem — it's part of Australia's biosecurity controls.

If nothing of biosecurity concern is found, your belongings can be released. If an issue is identified, an item may require cleaning or treatment before release or, depending on the circumstances, may need to be exported or destroyed.

Inspection, treatment, storage or other related charges may apply, and any additional action required can delay the release of your shipment.

If an inspection is required, making relevant belongings easy to identify and locate can help the process run more smoothly.

Australian customs and the documents you'll need

We'll provide the shipping and customs documents required for your move and guide you through completing them.

Accurate documentation is important for Australian customs clearance, so complete the information carefully and make sure it reflects the belongings you're shipping.

Australia customs declaration form sample

Sample Australian B534 Unaccompanied Personal Effects Statement used to declare personal belongings shipped separately to Australia.

You don’t need to navigate Australian customs paperwork alone — we’ll provide the documents you need and guide you through the process.

What documents do you need for Australian customs?

Depending on your shipment and circumstances, your documentation may include:

We'll let you know which documents apply to your shipment and when they need to be completed.

What is the Australian B534 form?

The B534 Unaccompanied Personal Effects Statement is used when personal belongings arrive in Australia separately from their owner, as they do when you're shipping household belongings from the UK.

It asks for information about you, your arrival in Australia, and the goods you're importing, including declarations regarding belongings that may be subject to customs or biosecurity controls.

The B534 is a legal declaration to the Australian Border Force and the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and must be completed in English.

Can you bring personal belongings into Australia without paying duty or GST?

Your unaccompanied personal effects may qualify to enter Australia without customs duty or GST if you and your belongings meet Australian Border Force eligibility requirements.

For typical furniture, household goods and personal effects, eligibility can depend on:

  • Whether the belongings are your personal property and intended for your use in Australia;
  • Whether you've personally owned and used them for the required period — generally 12 months for furniture and household goods;
  • Whether the shipment is connected with your move to Australia, and
  • Whether the goods are personal rather than commercial or intended for sale.

Different conditions apply to some categories of goods, and items such as alcohol, tobacco and motor vehicles aren't covered by the standard unaccompanied personal effects concession.

Australian Border Force makes the final decision on eligibility, and duties, GST or other charges may apply if you or your belongings don't qualify.

For step-by-step guidance on completing your B534 and preparing your paperwork, read our Australia customs guide.

What is an Inventory Packing List?

Your Inventory Packing List is a detailed record of the belongings in your shipment, showing what you've packed and which box or item each entry relates to.

Complete it as you pack, rather than after you've sealed your boxes, and use specific descriptions. For example, instead of “Box 4 — Household items”, write “Box 4 — Books, photo frames, kitchen utensils and table linen”.

Clearly record where you've packed anything relevant to Australian biosecurity so it can be located if required. Before submitting your documents, check that your Inventory Packing List, B534 and the belongings you've shipped all match.

Preparing for collection and delivery

Preparing your belongings and property in advance can help your collection in the UK and delivery in Australia run smoothly.

Before collection:

Make sure your belongings are fully packed and ready before our collection vehicle arrives. Confirm your collection details and arrange any required parking permits or property access in advance.

Move packed boxes and smaller belongings close to your property's entrance, or to the communal entrance if you live in a block of flats, and make sure someone is available at the collection address.

For MoveCube® collections, we'll assess access during your site inspection. Raise any narrow roads, height restrictions, parking or other access concerns at this stage, and let us know if anything changes before collection day.

Make one final check that your shipment doesn't contain any prohibited goods.

Question mark icon pin in white

Keep essential belongings with you

Your shipment could be in transit for several months, so don't pack anything you'll need during the journey or immediately after arriving in Australia.

Keep essentials with you, including:

  • Passports, visas and important immigration documents;
  • Prescription medication;
  • Phones, laptops and chargers;
  • House and car keys;
  • Travel documents and other important paperwork; and
  • Enough clothing and everyday essentials for your first few weeks in Australia.

Remember: estimated transit time isn't the same as final delivery time. Your belongings must also complete Australian customs and biosecurity clearance before delivery can be arranged.

On MoveCube® collection day

We'll notify you of your allocated loading time the day before your MoveCube® arrives, based on the size and number of units you've booked.

As a guide:

  • Small MoveCube®: 60 minutes to load;
  • Medium MoveCube®: 90 minutes to load; and
  • Large MoveCube®: 120 minutes to load.

For multiple MoveCubes®, your loading time increases according to the number and sizes of the units.

You'll be responsible for loading within your allocated time. Our driver can provide practical guidance, but can't enter your property or load the MoveCube® for you.

Keep the route from your property clear, have your belongings positioned and ready to load, and arrange help for heavier or bulkier items if needed.

Additional charges apply for every 15 minutes you exceed your allocated loading time.

Avoid collection-day delays

Before collection day, make sure:

  • Someone is available at the collection address;
  • Your belongings are packed and ready to load;
  • Any required parking permits or access arrangements are in place;
  • Any narrow roads, height restrictions or other access issues have been raised during your site inspection; and
  • Your shipment contains no prohibited goods.

If anything affecting parking or access changes after your site inspection, let us know as soon as possible so we can plan for it.

Before delivery in Australia:

Once your belongings have cleared customs and biosecurity, we'll arrange delivery in Australia.

Confirm your delivery address and contact details, and let us know about any parking or property access restrictions. Make sure someone is available to receive your belongings and arrange help for heavier or bulkier items if needed.

For MoveCube® deliveries, you'll be responsible for unloading within your allocated time, which depends on the size and number of units being delivered.

Should I insure my belongings when moving to Australia?

International removals involve several stages of handling and transport, so it’s worth considering insurance for your belongings.

Basic Insurance covers the loss of your entire shipment or MoveCube®. For services other than MoveCube®, it also covers the loss of individual boxes.

Premier Insurance includes Basic Insurance cover, plus cover for theft, loss of contents and damage.

The cost of your insurance depends on the declared value of your belongings and the shipping service you’ve booked.

Before choosing your cover, make sure the value you declare accurately reflects what you’re shipping and check what’s included. Terms, conditions, exclusions and excesses apply, so read the full policy before making your selection.

Highly recommend

"I used Seven Seas Worldwide services to relocate from London to Sydney, probably one of the longest distances on the planet. It was very important for me to have a reliable service to ship all my valuables safely and in a timely fashion, without worry or hassle.

Seven Seas Worldwide ticked all the boxes, and I had an excellent experience with timely notification of my shipment. Their online documentation feature was easy and helpful… also, the customer service representatives were polite and resolved all queries efficiently. Keep up the good work!"

Highly professional company, great customer service, and smooth from start to finish!

"I sent 3 Large boxes from Essex in the UK, to Perth in Australia. The whole experience was so professional, and I felt completely at ease and in control of my beloved possessions. The tracker is fantastic, as you can check where the ship is at any time of day. They delivered empties and collected my boxes promptly, and throughout the experience from 26th May - 2nd Oct, they were very fast to respond to emails, had no queue time on phone calls, and any question I asked was treated with respect and delivered with fantastic customer service.

Everything was explained thoroughly and clearly, which led to zero issues with customs/border control, and I wasn't charged a penny over the original quote. Shoutout to Dave, who's working on the deliveries in Perth, for calling me up a day early to say he was nearby. It made my week and was a huge surprise — he was so friendly and chatty, too.

Could not recommend enough. Thank you, Seven Seas Worldwide, for looking after my possessions."

Great people — best service

"I booked two MoveCubes® from England to Adelaide. I was very worried about the quarantine process and hidden charges, but Seven Seas Worldwide charged me what they said they would. Very good service, good customer service, and, most of all, the driver who brought our stuff home in Adelaide was a very helpful, decent, and polite person. He helped us unload the MoveCube®, and although it was very hot, he always had a smile on his face. I am very thankful to him. As I was new in town, he gave us a very warm welcome. Thanks!"

Frequently asked questions

Your personalised quote will show the shipping and transportation costs for your chosen service, based on what you're sending and your UK collection and Australian delivery locations.

You'll also see applicable charges and any optional extras you select, giving you an itemised estimate to review before booking.

Your personalised quote will show the destination charges applicable to your shipment, so you can see them before booking.

Additional costs may arise if your shipment requires services outside the standard process, such as biosecurity inspection, treatment or additional storage.

We'll explain any applicable destination charges upfront, so you can budget with confidence and avoid unexpected costs later.

You don't normally need to be in Australia when your belongings arrive. Complete the required shipping and customs documentation accurately, and we'll coordinate the clearance process with the relevant Australian authorities.

For qualifying SeaPost shipments, you can send up to four Standard boxes or two medium suitcases without needing to be in Australia when they arrive, subject to the service's eligibility requirements.

Many household electrical items can be shipped, provided they meet our shipping requirements and Australian import rules.

Before packing an appliance, check whether it contains batteries, liquids, or other restricted components, and whether it's permitted by your chosen shipping service.

It's also worth checking whether the appliance will be practical to use in Australia, including its voltage and plug requirements.

Bicycles can be shipped subject to the applicable shipping and Australian biosecurity requirements.

Because bikes are used outdoors, clean the frame, tyres, wheels, pedals and other components thoroughly before packing. Remove all soil, seeds, plant material, and other debris, and ensure the bicycle is completely dry.

Bicycles and other outdoor equipment may be inspected as part of Australia's biosecurity controls.

Musical instruments can be shipped when they meet the requirements of your chosen service. Before packing, check what the instrument and its case are made from.

Some instruments contain wood, animal-derived materials or other natural products that may be subject to Australian import conditions. Check BICON if you're unsure whether restrictions or additional requirements apply.

Pack valuable or fragile instruments carefully and check the terms of your chosen insurance cover.

Check our Prohibited Goods list first to see whether Seven Seas Worldwide can carry the item.

If it contains plant or animal material, has been used outdoors, or could otherwise be subject to Australian biosecurity controls, check Australia's Biosecurity Import Conditions (BICON) system too.

If you're still unsure, contact our team before packing the item.
