Things you need to know when shipping to Thailand
You will need to log into your account in order to complete our online documentation which includes:
- Inventory, recording the contents of your shipment;
- Insurance to protect your shipment in case of mishap.
You will need to upload scans of your passport - the picture page, the signature page and if applicable, a copy of your visa, at the final stage of the process.
There are helpful pointers all throughout but you must be completely accurate with the information you enter as these forms will be presented to the authorities at the destination.
Importing your personal effects and household items
You enjoy duty-free shipment of used personal effects and household items for only ONE air and ONE sea shipment.
- The used personal effects and household item must be at least 6 months old.
- The shipment must be imported not earlier than one month before or not later than six months after the arrival of the importers.
- Copy of work permit for at least one year for expats or Thai ID for citizens of Thailand.
- The imported used/second-hand household effects have been owned, possessed, and used at least 6 months in the country where the importers resided before returning or relocating to Thailand.
- Only ONE unit each of electrical appliances is eligible for tax and duty free allowance. Any excess unit shall be subject to regular taxes and duties, and Customs will place the items that have the lowest rate of duty under tax and duty exemption.
- You must have stayed overseas for at least 12 months and return to Thailand not over 3 months to be exempted from import duty & tax.
- You will be required to provide your original passport in Thailand (Resident/Foreign passport) if not all items subject to tax and duty.
Automobile & parts, bicycle, luxury goods, cosmetics, perfume, medicine, health related products ceramic ware & porcelain are subject to taxes and duty.
Importing antiques and fine art
You can import antiques and fine art into Thailand duty-free when imported with your personal effects and household items.
In addition, each item requires a photograph and with fine arts including religious articles e.g. Buddha statue, they require pre-registration with the Fine Arts Department.
