What kind of shipping boxes do we offer?

Our double-walled, chemically-strengthened shipping boxes protect your prized possessions during long journeys to the United Arab Emirates. Large and Standard are our most popular containers (see below for exact dimensions). We recommend ordering more boxes than you need. If you have any unused boxes leftover in brand-new condition, we'll collect them for free.

Specially-shaped containers made from the same quality materials are available for the delivery of large items. Examples include surfboards and golf clubs. Please wrap them securely before collection, and we'll box them at our nearest depot.

You can use your own containers. But please avoid laundry bags, plastic crates, used food boxes and bin liners. Such containers break easily and could damage the rest of your shipment.

Customs clearance support in the UAE

Our trusted boxes and bags delivery service makes the customs process in the United Arab Emirates straightforward. But there are some important things to remember.

Like all countries, the UAE has import restrictions on certain items to protect its people and the environment. Please reference our Prohibited Goods page before packing to avoid fines or delays.

Log in to your account and complete the following documents:

  • An inventory listing every single item you want to send. UAE customs authorities will see this, so accuracy is essential.
  • Optional insurance forms - cover for your delivery shipment in the rare case it is lost or damaged.
  • Colour scans of the shipment owner's passport picture and signature pages.

Personal belongings will avoid customs duties provided they are not for sale and the combined worth is under AED 3,000. Please note you must be present in the UAE when your shipment arrives. You are responsible for clearing the shipment through customs using your appointed agent and paying any charges that may arise. Finally, collect your shipment and transport it to your home in the UAE.

Our multilingual customer service team is available 24/7 to answer questions and offer advice.

Safely send luggage to the UAE with our top packing tips

It's essential to thoroughly wrap and pack your belongings before sending them to the United Arab Emirates. We highly recommend using a professional packing service to ease some stress. Otherwise, take your time and follow our 4 expert tips below. For more in-depth packing advice, check out How to choose a box for shipping and Preparing large items for collection.

Seal your boxes tightly:

Gather all your packing materials, like parcel tape and a knife. Create a secure base for your box by folding in the small flaps, then the large flaps and securing them shut with three layers of overlapping tape.

Cover exposed edges with more parcel tape, then wrap all the way around the bottom. Once complete, repeat the process at the lid.

Be careful with delicate things:

Cover everything in bubble wrap and use two or more layers for fragile and valuable items. Place your heaviest items along the bottom of your box and lighter things above and away from the sides.

Fill gaps using soft materials like packing paper or towels. Shake your container gently. If you hear a sound, add more soft materials until it stops.

Complete your online inventory:

Log in to your account and fill in your inventory — a detailed list of every item you want to send overseas. Accuracy is essential as UAE customs officials will request to see it.

With a dark marker pen, write the job number, box number, and shipment owner's destination city and country on two sides of every container. Reference your inventory to ensure all details match.

Prepare for collection day:

The max. weight for each container is 30kg/66lbs to protect you and our driver. Weigh everything on bathroom scales. If a container tips the limit, remove some items and place them in a lighter box.

For a straightforward collection day, move all your boxes, bags and suitcases as close to your building's entrance as possible the night before.

After trying various overseas delivery services with limited success, this was our first time using Seven Seas Worldwide. From the quote to the documentation, uplift and delivery overseas, everything worked well. Overseas shipping is never easy, so having a clear process, being able to upload all the documentation, and having good communication made the experience hassle-free.
