How to pack a snowboard for international shipping

We make the process of shipping snowboards internationally stress-free. As part of our Boxes and Bags Worldwide service, we'll collect your snowboard bag from your home and take it to our depot. Then, we'll carefully box it into a double-walled cardboard container and ship it to your destination country.

Double-check your quote to confirm that our vans are collecting your shipment. If collection is by one of our partners, your shipment won't be inspected until it arrives at our hub before export. In this instance, we strongly recommend buying a hard snowboard shipping box or case (Seven Seas Worldwide does not endorse these products), which can be reused and is cheaper than having to repair or replace a damaged board.

But there are a few important things for you to do to prepare your snowboard for shipping:

  • Thoroughly clean and dry your snowboard. Doing so means you'll have clean equipment at your destination. If we receive an unclean board, you'll incur a cleaning charge. Plus, if a local environmental agency discovers organic matter during inspections, it could lead to delays and fines.
  • Ensure your bindings are undone and folded down to prevent them from ripping your bag during transit.
  • Protect the ends of your snowboard by covering them in cushioning materials such as bubble wrap, jackets, hats and scarfs, and secure with parcel tape.
  • If possible, pack your board into a hard snowboard shipping box or bag for added protection.
  • Weigh your snowboard inside its bag or box on bathroom scales to ensure it doesn't exceed our weight limit of 30kg/66lbs.

You can ship your snowboard boots, protective clothing, goggles and other winter gear in the same order. But please wrap them well with cushioning materials and pack them into strong cardboard containers. Top tip: place small accessories like gloves and sunglasses inside your boots!

Although not a professional packing service, our expert staff box your snowboard to a high standard. Our chemically strengthened cardboard containers protect your board during long journeys via land, air and sea.

We start by inspecting the exterior of your snowboard's bag for defects such as scratches. Then, we protect both ends of the bag by wrapping them in large pieces of foam tubing and securing them with parcel tape. We then further protect both ends with several layers of bubble wrap, secured with more parcel tape.

Next, we gently place your snowboard bag inside our box. If there is any movement, we'll add more bubble wrap until it stops. Finally, we secure the box's lid with several layers of parcel tape and label it, ready to be stored or shipped.

You can ship your snowboard boots, gloves, goggles and other winter gear in the same order. But please wrap them well with cushioning materials and pack them into strong cardboard containers.

Customs regulations when shipping snowboards abroad

Since we control a global network of depots, we can offer a door-to-door luggage delivery service, including customs clearance, in most countries where we operate.

All countries have certain items banned from importation to protect their people and environment. Please reference our Prohibited Goods page before booking for the latest information.

Log in to your account and complete the following:

  • An inventory listing every item you want to send. Custom authorities will have access to it, so accuracy is a must.
  • Optional insurance forms for peace of mind in the rare case your snowboard is lost or damaged.
  • Colour scans of the shipment owner's passport picture and signature pages.

I was a little worried about having to send a snowboard and a large box from New Zealand to the US, both the cost and the idea of shipping it on a boat for three months. But the entire experience from start to finish was excellent. Communication was clear, everyone I spoke to was kind and helpful, and they answered any concerns and questions immediately. The price was very reasonable for shipping something so large and for the service you get. They really did a great job of making a somewhat stressful and annoying process as painless as possible. I highly recommend Seven Seas Worldwide. If I need to ship any larger packages, I definitely know who I will be using.

Yes! Check first if your hotel or B&B accept deliveries on your behalf. If so, we recommend shipping your snowboard well in advance of your arrival.

Transit time depends on the location of your origin and destination countries and your preferred shipping method. Sea shipping is cheaper and uses less C02, which is better for the planet. Air shipping gets your snowboard to its destination faster, which is ideal if you have a bigger budget and less time to plan.

Consider one of our comprehensive insurance plans to cover the rare chance your snowboard is damaged or lost. Plus, our online tracker lets you monitor its worldwide location.

All sea and air routes are predefined to ensure your goods arrive via the most efficient delivery method possible.
