What international shipping boxes do we provide for items travelling to Spain?

Our worldwide shippers offer sturdy boxes to protect your prized possessions when sending them to Spain. Made from chemically-strengthened cardboard, our most popular boxes are Large and Standard. See below for the exact dimensions. We recommend ordering more than you think you need. If unused containers are leftover in brand-new condition, we'll collect them for free.

Specially-shaped containers made from the same quality materials are available for large items, such as skis and bikes. Before collection, please wrap them securely. Then we'll move your specially-shaped items to our nearest depot and box them.

You can use your own boxes and bags. But please avoid laundry bags, plastic crates, used food boxes and bin liners. Such containers break easily and would likely damage the rest of your belongings. Do you want to send large household items like sofas and tables to Spain? If so, our international removals service, the MoveCube®, is your most cost-effective option.

We take care of customs clearance in Spain

Thanks to our worldwide network of depots and expert team, we make sending luggage from Netherlands to Spain straightforward. You can relax knowing that our overseas shippers handle customs inspections. But there are some essential things you should know.

Like all countries worldwide, Spain has a list of restricted items to protect its people and the environment. Please reference our regularly-updated Prohibited Goods page as you pack to avoid customs charges.

Log in to your online account and complete the following documents:

  • An Inventory listing every item you are sending to Spain. Customs officials will ask to see it. Therefore, accuracy is essential.
  • Optional insurance forms for extra cover in the rare chance your belongings become lost or damaged.
  • Colour scans of the shipment owner's passport picture and signature pages.

European Union (EU) and non-EU members can import used personal goods into Spain duty and tax-free. However, they must be owned and used for more than six months. Plus, your delivery must arrive in Spain within three months of your arrival.

Please note that a Spanish customs agent may request the shipment owner be present before their belongings arrive in Spain.

Visit Spain's official customs website for a full breakdown. If you have any queries, our multilingual customer service team are available 24/7.

Safely ship boxes and bags to Spain with this packing guide

Consider hiring a professional packing service to ensure your possessions arrive in perfect condition. Otherwise, set aside plenty of time to carefully wrap and pack each item, and follow our 4-step guide below. For more detailed tips, check out our How to choose a box for shipping and Preparing large items for collection pages.

Prepare your boxes:

Gather together all your packing materials, such as parcel tape and a knife. Seal the base of your box by folding in the small flaps, then the large flaps, and sealing them with three layers of overlapping parcel tape.

Cover exposed edges with more tape, then tightly seal all around the bottom of your container. Once full, secure the top of your box using the same process.

Double wrap fragile goods:

Use bubble wrap to cover all items, and use two layers for delicate and valuable items. Place heavy items along the bottom and lighter things on top and away from the sides of your container.

Fill gaps with soft materials like packing paper or towels. Give your box a gentle shake. If you hear any noise, add more soft materials till it stops.

Complete your online inventory:

Log in to your account and fill out your inventory as you pack. Spanish customs officials will ask to see it, so accuracy is a must.

Using a marker pen, write the job number, box number, and shipment owner's destination country and city on at least two sides of each container. Reference your inventory to ensure accuracy.

Prepare for collection day:

For the safety of you and our driver, each box, bag or suitcase cannot weigh over 30kg/66lbs. Weigh all containers individually on bathroom scales. If one exceeds the limit, remove some items to a lighter box.

Finally, move all containers as close to your building's entrance as possible for a smooth collection day experience.

A great service. Good quality packing and clear, helpful advice on the website. I liked being able to get quotes and exact package dimensions online. Customer service responded to queries very quickly and clearly. I would definitely use Seven Seas Worldwide again.
