Safely load the MoveCube® with furniture in 4 steps

We want all your precious furniture to arrive in one piece at your new home. To ease stress, we recommend hiring a professional packing team. Otherwise, take your time and follow our 4 top packing tips below (for comprehensive advice, read our complete packing guides):

one

Have a declutter:

Save money on overseas shipping by deciding what furniture and belongings you need to take. After all, the less you ship, the cheaper it will be!

Online auction sites like eBay and Facebook Marketplace are excellent resources to sell surplus goods. Take whatever remains to charity shops and anything unusable to your local recycling centre.

two

Be cautious with fragile goods:

Seal your box shut with three layers of overlapping parcel tape. Repeat the process at the lid. Use bubble wrap on all items and at two layers for delicate goods. Place heavy items along the bottom and lighter things above and away from the sides.

To create extra space, take apart your furniture. Then, wrap and cover with protective materials to prevent them from rubbing against each other.

three

Reserve a parking space for our vehicle:

Pay for any necessary parking tickets before loading day to ensure our driver can park at least twenty metres from the entrance to your home.

A trolly is available to help move your containers if needed. Our driver can offer advice, but they must always keep the vehicle within eyesight at all times.

four

Build from the bottom to the top:

Place bulky items, like sofas and dishwashers, at the bottom and centre of the MoveCube® and lighter containers above and to the sides. Ensure all containers slot in together snugly — like a fun game of Tetris!

Fill gaps with solid containers. Avoid using loose items, as they are likely to break and could cause damage to the rest of your shipment.

I had an excellent experience with Seven Seas Worldwide shipping by sea and air from the UK to Singapore. Scheduled deliveries were prompt and easy to arrange, the packing materials provided were very good. There was good tracking of the order at all stages. When I needed to change my destination address, etc., customer service was prompt in replying via email. All my items arrived within the estimated time and in good condition — no breakage or missing items. I would highly recommend this service.

Packing tips for international furniture shipping

furniture packing

Shipping furniture overseas can be a daunting task. Doing all you can to ensure a smooth and trouble-free experience before loading day is essential.

Fully protecting your furniture lessens the chance of damage in transit, offers peace of mind and ensures your shipment complies with customs clearance rules.

Read our top 4 tips to ensure the best possible experience when sending furniture overseas:

  • Minimise volume: if possible, disassemble your furniture. Doing so makes them lighter to move, lessens the chance of damage, and gives you more space to pack. Put all screws, nuts and bolts inside a bag for quick access later on and label it.
  • Clean, clean, clean: use a clean cloth to wash everything. Doing so ensures all furniture is free from dirt and dust to prevent damage or mould forming. Then, thoroughly dry your furniture. Drain washing machines and dishwashers of any remaining liquids. Use a steam cleaner on upholstered and garden furniture to remove lingering stains or odours.
  • Cover and protect: place foam or plastic corner protectors over sharp edges of kitchen tables, sideboards, etc. Wrap all furniture in packing paper or clean moving blankets. Secure them in place using tape or plastic wrap.
  • Get creative with space: use all available space by filling drawers and cupboards with soft items like duvets or cushions. Seal drawers and doors shut with parcel tape over protective wrap (if placed directly onto furniture, it will leave a sticky residue) to prevent anything from falling out during transit.
